My own religious views are irrelevant to the thrust of this essay. Let’s just say I am sufficiently “not a Christian” and “not a Pagan” that I can be very objective. However, this might make me seem blasé about matters that are very important to you, so let me assure you that I do take them seriously. It’s just that, right now, other things are more pressing.
Of all the schisms I have seen in my time in White Nationalism - covid, women, gays, AI, etc. - none is so persistent and toxic as the Christian/Pagan divide. At least once a year I will see a flare-up, and of course I am privy to only a fraction of the discourse so there will be many flare-ups that pass me by - but they happen, and do their damage.
And it is always damaging. People make enemies, friends have to take sides, bystanders get demoralised. People sometimes try to justify it by saying that we need to “get these issues sorted out” before we gain power (which I think is both a false argument and a futile hope). But, needless to say, us fighting each other is exactly what our enemies want. No doubt they even engineer some of these conflicts.
However, I don’t think all or even most of these conflicts are ginned up by scheming feds. Religion is crucial enough to people that I can easily believe these are earnest arguments, deeply felt. The depth of feeling actually is the problem. It prevents people seeing the wood for the trees. Their faith matters so much to them that they are prepared to fall out with many others, people who could be useful to them, people they might need in the future. And even if you don’t need that particular person, someone you know might. Function between individuals relies on connectedness between them. The fewer connections, the less function. The less function, the less success. It is that simple.
That is why, for military units (and for genteel dinner parties) there has tended to be a rule about conversation: “no politics, no religion”. Only by suppressing these incendiary topics, by getting people to agree to “look the other way” about their colleagues differing from them and to instead focus on the commonalities, is function maintained and success made possible.
But we are not in a military unit, so such order cannot be imposed on us. We are free to bicker, reduce function, and make success less likely. Some are maladjusted or malicious so do this for the sake of creating conflict. Others do it because a topic really matters to them, such as religion.
In the Christian/Pagan conflict, both sides have good arguments. I could give my thoughts on them, but won’t, since it is outside the scope of this essay. I will also not give my respective thoughts about the two groups, because that would only antagonise people whom I ultimately want fighting alongside me. (If only everyone had this attitude.)
The question both groups should ask themselves is: roughly what percentage of the other group do you really think you can convert? I think the percentage is extremely low. This is why the arguments (no matter how good) are superfluous and the fighting is futile.
I would say to Christians:
It doesn’t matter whether you are correct that modern Paganism is a larp, that Christianity while deriving from Judaism was heavily Europeanised, that after 1,800 years Christianity is thoroughly embedded in European culture and was the religion of all our ancestors, that Europe under Christianity was extremely non-cucky, that the West’s decline has occurred in tandem with its becoming less Christian, that nobody can really know what the ancient Pagan practices were, or that our Pagan ancestors ultimately converted to Christianity (therefore, ha ha, modern ones should follow suit and “see the light”). None of those arguments matter, even if they are true. Why? Because you are never going to convert a majority of Pagans to Christianity.
If these arguments feel like “wins” for you, bear in mind that while you grin smugly at having “BTFO’d the larpers”, there are brown and black people engulfing you and your progeny. You have infinitely less in common with them than with White Pagans - even the dream-headed leftist ones! Black Christianity with gospel chants, riotous jungle dancing and hysterical voodoo witch-doctors is not your Christianity, and you know it.
Instead of mocking Pagans, let them know you are aware (as you should be) that your religion has been subverted by cucky priests, lesbian vicars and traitor popes to hinder the survival of European peoples. You can agree with the Pagans on that without betraying your religion. Its institutions, like all others, have been subverted.
However, you absolutely must let go of the universalism. If you can’t do that, then your nationalism is a charade.
I would say to Pagans:
It doesn’t matter whether you are correct that Jesus was a Jew, that Christianity is a Jewish trick, that Christianity is foreign to Europeans, or that Christianity is inherently cucky and universalist. None of those arguments matter, even if they are true. Why? Because you are never going to convert a majority of Christians to Paganism.
Bear in mind that those in nationalism are a tiny percentage of White Christians overall. Even if you somehow managed to convert that contingent (impossible) you would also have to convert the masses beyond (unimaginably more impossible). It is simply never going to happen. For the sake of not just White Nationalism but your own sanity, you have to give up on the idea.
Whatever your objections to Christianity, and no matter how justified they are, you still have infinitely more in common with White Christians than with any non-whites, of whatever faith.
Recall that their religion, just a century ago, facilitated rather than hindered nationalism. Instead of demanding they abandon it, perhaps your worries about it could be allayed by instead asking them to use their religion to protect their peoples, as their ancestors did.
Engage them politely; they are far more numerous than you and can (and will) simply dismiss you if you get nasty. There is a lot of aggression from Pagans towards Christians in our movement and, even if you are correct, it just makes you look antisocial and unreasonable. It’s self-defeating.
For both sides, the choice is not whether to surrender to or defeat the other, because neither is going to happen. The choice is whether you should remain in White Nationalism. If you definitely can’t work with people of other faiths, then you are only going to be a drain on the rest of us nationalists, by having futile arguments and creating harmful schisms, ultimately helping no-one but our (mutual) enemies.
If you do care so much more about your religion than your race that you would sacrifice the latter in the name of defending the former, that’s too bad. While I would like to convert you back to sane self-preservation, I won’t be pushing it like you guys try to push your faith on each other. I will simply implore you to ask yourself honestly what you are getting from and giving to this struggle. Is the survival of your race - a biological and moral imperative that does not require any religious justification - really less important to you than converting people to your faith?
The way to deal with the disagreement is simple. Don’t goad each other. If one from the other side goads you, remember that there are more important matters and more dignified activities than fighting your own people. If the other person is not (yet) wise enough to realise that, just move on. You will not convert him, so either overlook his petulance or avoid/block him.
If you really must debate the issue, do it politely. You will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Nothing alienates people more than someone who can’t disagree without getting rude, personal or obsessive. Every successful religious debate I have seen (by “successful” I mean one side didn’t leave despising the other and dismissing everything he said) hinged on mutual respect. I have seen many such debates in my dedicated Telegram group “MW Religious Brawls” (the name is facetious).
Finally, I would expand on a tweet. Muslims and Jews already have religion-based legal protection in Britain, but they want race-based protection as well, stemming from their (ancestral, theoretical or actual) religions. Atheist Jews are protected by anti-Semitism law just like religious Jews. Muslims are now lobbying for Islamophobia to be regarded as a form of racism. Presumably, these groups have reckoned that race supersedes religion in some sense, or at least that it does “in practice”. Indeed, for us, Muslims are (vastly) brown. For them, we are always White; whether we are Christian, Pagan or whatever is of no importance to them at all. If atheist and religious Jews can unite on genetics, why can’t we? If brown men can accept that race is the most potent external identifier, why can’t we?
I would rather Christians and Pagans focussed on building our movement and attacking its enemies. They are numerous and very powerful, and this is the eleventh hour. We really don’t have time for internecine squabbles. This is a conflict that has to wait for another age, for our descendants. For us, it needs to be like all the other things we disagree with each other about: put aside, for the sake of those descendants.
However, to end on a light-hearted note… if Christians and Pagans must have religious fights within the White community, why not join forces?
